Kristy Schultz is a female motorcyclist on a mission.
The 28-year-old from Gawler is determined to finish her third consecutive open solo bike competition in this month’s 24 Hour Reliability Motorcycle Trial.
This will make her the first female in 24 Hour trial to complete this challenge.
Kristy said her only regret is she didn’t get into competition racing earlier.
“I’ve been part of 15 road trial events this year and have never got a DNF (did not finish),” she said.
Kristy is a member of the Gawler Motorcycling Club where she is secretary and treasurer.
“I enjoy motorbikes, my family has always ridden them and I race because my Dad liked racing; he was killed at speedway,” she explained.
“I know the risks associated with motorbikes and luckily I have not had any injuries.
“I get more injuries from playing netball,” she laughed.
On Saturday night the 24 Hour Reliability Trial draw was held with Kristy selected as bike number 40.
She will be among about 100 riders in various sections, including a rider from New Zealand, to kick off from Kapunda on Saturday, July 12.
Kristy said she is grateful for the support from her family and sponsors.
