If ever there was a clear cut example of the need for senators to be truly independent, it was shown this past week.

Two South Australian senators, one Labor the other Liberal, deserted their electors by clearly putting the interest of their respective parties ahead of the needs of their electors.

Penny Wong (Labor) and Mary Jo Fisher (Liberal) consciously worked against the interests of the Lower Lakes and all South Australians who need the Murray River.
