Teaching petanque in new areas

11/03/2008 3:49:42 PM
Gawler Petanque Club members Stan Wilson Glenis Head are taking the sport around the state.

The pair recently accepted an invitation to head to Bower from the town’s Progress Aossication.

Stan and Glenis gave a presentation and a demonstration of the game of petanque to the committee.

The Bower Progress Association has endorsed petanque as an official sport/recreational activity in its “be active/be involved” policy.

The game can be played all year round, by all ages and both sexes, while wheelchair and other disadvantaged persons are also able to play it quite readily.

The Bower Progress Association proposes to have petanque figure prominently as part of a sports day to be held at the Bower Recreation Reserve.
